Maha Shiva Ratri also known as ‘Night of the Shiva is one of the major festivals of Nepal. Hindus of Nepal and other countries celebrate this festival in grand way. They worship Lord Shiva and chant his prayers on this day by visiting Shiva Temples. Mainly hundreds of thousands of devotees visit Pashupatinath which is the major attraction for Shivaratri. It is the holiest shrines of the Hindus and considered the Guardian and the protector of Kathmandu Valley.
On this auspicious day many Hindus from all over the world visit different Shiva temples worshipping the God of Destruction. Maha Shivaratri also celebrates the night when Lord Shiva performed the “Tandav”, the cosmic dance. There will be colorful crowd of Sadhu Babas from different parts of Nepal and India. They will be partly covered in ashes and some completely naked.
